Rachel Marks

Rachel Marks is an American artist and dancer living and working in Paris. She is also a tenure professor at Parsons Paris. Rachel has a Bachelor of Fine Art (2010) in Drawing and Painting from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Fine Art (2013) from l'Ecole Supérieure d'Art et Design of Grenoble, France. Rachel’s work investigates the relationship between nature and humanity. Her practice explores how trees thrive together within the forest community primarily through site specific large scale installation and performance, as well as sculpture, painting and drawing.  Her materials consist mostly of abandoned books and paper, metamorphosing back to their natural source.  Her goal as an artist is to bring public awareness to nature's complexity and beauty to promote preservation.

Her works and performances are regularly shown in France as well as internationally. Grand Palais in Paris, Fondation Martell in Cognac, Today Art Museum in Beijing, Children's Museum of the Arts in New York, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, Casa Amarela in Rio de Janeiro, Strano Film Festival in Abruzzo, Italy, Spring Break Art Show in New York, National Sawdust in New York, Gallery U10 in Belgrade, Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura in Tijuana, Gallery Gong in Seoul...

Rachel's studio is located in the artist residency Montmartre aux Artistes in Paris.
